Oregon rancher says he didn’t let armed group remove fence
As the occupation of an OR national wildlife area enters the second week, the armed militia is recognizing that if they are really going to stay there forever then they are going to need some supplies.
Leader Ammon Bundy told reporters the meeting is now in doubt because Harney County officials won’t let them use the fairgrounds, as they had hoped.
Teens in Burns, Oregon, got an extension on their winter break when schools were closed for an additional week due to the standoff at the nearby Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. “Any movement of cattle onto the refuge or other activities that are not specifically authorized by [the Fish and Wildlife Service] constitutes trespassing”.
A lawyer for the Hammonds has said the group does not speak for the Hammond family.
Although the location for the meeting is yet to be determined, Finicum says anyone is welcome to attend. The first federal judge to handle the case ruled that the sentence was too harsh and gave the pair a lighter sentence, which they served.
“Friday at seven, we will be going into town and holding a meeting with the community to explain to the community … why we are here and when we will be leaving”, LaVoy Finicum said.
While the armed group may have gained a few local recruits in their long occupation, Dwight Hammond’s close family definitely don’t want anything to do with it. They have completely distanced themselves from the operation. However, it’s unlikely that the group’s stated goals of turning over federal land to local control and freeing two local ranchers from prison will be accomplished by the end of the week.
According to Gawker, spokesperson Mo Peltier added: “People spending money to send items representing their hate”.
They asked for shampoo and got dildos instead.
“What I see is a lunatic fringe of extremists who have taken my land over”, said New Mexico Wildlife Federation executive director Garrett VeneKlasen. Smart move! Peltier says, “Keep sending stupid s**t, it’s gonna turn a dime for them”. The standoff at the secluded federal building near Burns, Oregon is the latest example of how domestic terrorism is fueled by white supremacy.
A small, armed group has been occupying a remote national wildlife refuge in OR since a week to protest federal land use policies.
“We have children, grandchildren up in here and what is happening is not alright”, she said.
Ward told community members, “there’s an hour glass and it’s running out”, The Oregonian reported (http://goo.gl/CZFaWR ).
