Oregon’s Minimum Wage Increases As Of July 1
Thanks to Proposition J – something San Francisco voters approved in 2014 – minimum wage in the City is on its way to being $15 dollars an hour.
Meanwhile, minimum wage workers at the Los Angeles Unified School District got an even bigger raise Friday, to $15 an hour.
Those in favor of the wage increase plan to rally at McDonald’s in south Minneapolis at noon Wednesday before delivering the signatures to city hall.
The $10.50 minimum wage will soon apply to all businesses across the state with 26 or more employees. “You have assistant managers who had to work their way up to $15 an hour, so what does it say when somebody comes in the door making that same amount?”
“We believe that the minimum wage for full-time work should at least allow people to meet their basic needs”, Gray said at a news conference in Edmonton.
Starting July 1, 2023, minimum wage increases will again be adjusted to the Consumer Price Index, the agency said.
Last month, the commission announced a 2.4 per cent increase to the national minimum wage, modern award wage rates and agreed base rates of pay.

The CLC is calling on the federal government, and the other provinces, to make a $15 minimum wage the universal standard for workers across the country.
The law remains in limbo, however, because of a legal challenge before the Kentucky Supreme Court on whether Democrats overstepped their authority.
