Original Grateful Dead members coming to Albany October. 29
The group – which reunites bandmates Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann following the Dead’s wildly popular 50th anniversary “Fare Thee Well” shows earlier this summer – will embark on a tour starting October 29, when they take the stage in Albany for the first of what’s now booked as a 10-show run. The band performs December 27-28 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, then closes the year with a two-night stand, December 30-31, at the Forum in Los Angeles.
On November 6, the band will play the Verizon Center in D.C.
Rumors of a full-scale tour – following July’s successful Fare Thee Well concerts in Chicago – have been circulating over the past few weeks. “We’re gonna take these old friends on some new adventures”.
Phil Lesh and Bruce Hornsby, the other two living members of the Grateful Dead, will not join the group on the tour, according to effect of Sound.
Dead bassist and co-founder Phil Lesh has opted out of the Dead & Company tour.
Tickets go on sale to the general public for the S.F. dates at 10 a.m. Aug. 28 and for the L.A. shows at noon Aug. 28; www.ticketmaster.com. Burbridge is a newcomer to the world of the Grateful Dead, but has sang many a version of “Franklin’s Tower” with the Allman Brothers Band.
