Orlando Magic and Toronto Rapids to play at London’s O2
Orlando Magic and the Toronto Raptors are to play an National Basteball Association fixture at London’s O2 area at the beginning of subsequent yr.
The Boston Celtics will take on the Sacramento Kings in Mexico City in a regular-season game on December 3 while Milan, Madrid, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Rio De Janeiro will stage National Basteball Association pre-season games which were previously announced.
Toronto Raptors’ DeMar DeRozan, right, grabs Orlando Magic’s Evan Fournier’s arm and is charged with a foul as Fournier goes to the basket during the second half of an National Basteball Association basketball game, Friday, April 10, 2015, in Orlando, Fla.
The Raptors took part in the first regular season games to ever be held in Europe, losing back-to-back matches against the New Jersey Nets at the same venue in 2011.
The Magic last played in London during a pair of preseason games in 1993, when the team was led by four-time National Basteball Association champion and 15-time All-Star Shaquille O’Neal. “We look forward to an exciting atmosphere for our game against the Magic”.
“On behalf of the Magic organisation, we are looking forward to returning to London for National Basteball Association Global Games 2016”, said Skiles, who was only appointed into his current role back in May. “This is a wonderful opportunity for us to continue in the NBA’s mission to make an impact globally”.
“I’m sure our current players will relish this unique opportunity”, he said.
