Orlando massacre brings Latino, LGBT communities together

Given that we are fortunate enough to live in a nation where diversity is not something we legislate against, some observers might pose the questions: “Why is Pride Week necessary, given that the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people are protected?” This Sunday was no different, though the revelry was interrupted by a 50 second moment of silence for those killed in Orlando. It does not say that homophobia is something our Muslim community should be following because the people of Lot were committing bestiality and pedophilia and not love from one person to another for same-sex love. For him, he thought he was saying something supportive for our community, but denying you know that we are part of this human being that is actually equal to him was very hard on us.

He said: “It’s been the most surreal week of our lives. I hope that, in the aftermath of this horrific shooting, our country will move towards greater love and acceptance of all Americans”.

Meanwhile, o rganisers of London Pride have insisted they are working closely with police and are reviewing the security situation. San Francisco city officials are meeting with Pride organizers, local club and bar owners and police to discuss extra security measures.
The council said it does not have any funding opportunities available for events, adding: “But if organisers wished to contact us we will be happy to discuss if the council can assist in other ways”.
Martin plans to work with Harrisburg city police, capitol police and state police to ensure proper protocols are in place.
And we’ll continue doing it. “Or, if it is an option, it’s not something we’re going to do”.
Meanwhile, in NY, singer Nick Jonas and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” actor Tituss Burgess were among those who gathered at gay rights landmark the Stonewall Inn, to remember the victims of America’s largest ever mass shooting.
Mayor Lehman and MPP Ann Hoggarth will be among the speakers at the vigil.
