Orlando shooting suspect’s wife considered for criminal charges, officials tell ABCNews
“They should eliminate and find a solution to get rid of the ISIS”, Mateen, a fringe political commentator who has appeared on a us -based Afghan satellite channel, said Wednesday in a rambling press conference outside his family’s home in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
The 30-year-old married Mateen in 2011 and the two have a 3-year-old son. “We didn’t really talk to him a lot, but I remember him saying things about his dad at times“.
But he also said the Federal Bureau of Investigation was “highly confident” Mateen had been “radicalised” while consuming online propaganda and that he had claimed allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in a series of calls during the attack. At 10am the same day, police received a call from reporters to say the apartment’s back door was open.
The revelations, if true, sow more confusion around Mateen’s motives.
Meanwhile, two men have now come forward to claim having communicated with Mateen on gay dating apps.
“She definitely is, I guess you would say, a person of interest right now and appears to be co-operating and can provide us with some important information”, he added.
Police officers work near the nightclub “Pulse” where the mass shooting that killed at least 50 people including the gunman happened, in Orlando, Florida, the United States, June 15, 2016.
The report doesn’t say how much ammo the couple bought, or when they went shopping for it.
Mateen wrote that the USA has killed “innocent women and children by doing us airstrikes.now taste the Islamic state vengeance”.
Officials have reportedly flagged four different Facebook accounts believed to be associated with Mateen.
Mr West was dropping off a friend at the club when he noticed Mateen – whom he knew by sight but not by name – crossing the street.
Johnson also requests Facebook’s help in determining whether Mateen posted messages expressing pro-ISIS sentiments on any of his accounts.
Chris Callen, another Pulse customer, told the Sentinel he’d seen Mateen in the nightclub and had witnessed his violent outbursts.
The second wife, Noor Salman, was listed as Mateen’s spouse on a St. Lucie County mortgage document from September 2013.
