Oscars 2016: Alicia Vikander dresses as Belle from ‘Beauty and the Beast’

The year’s Best Supporting Actress is Alicia Vikander, who earns the Oscar for her work in “The Danish Girl”. The comedian also sought to add perspective to the turmoil, saying this year didn’t differ much from Oscar history, but black people in earlier decades were “too busy being raped and lynched to worry about who won best cinematographer”.

“Thank you for giving me the belief that anything can happen”, she said, raising her statuette.

“We want him to (go there), obviously, because way before this, our selection of Chris was to bring some edge and some fun and some amusing – intelligent funny – to the telecast”, she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Alicia Vikander looked like an absolute princess at the Academy Awards on February 28.

A former student at the Royal Swedish Ballet School whose mother is a stage actress, Vikander began her professional acting career by appearing in Swedish short films and television series. “You raised my game”, Vikander said Sunday in Hollywood in her acceptance speech. She beat out a talented field that included Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Rooney Mara (Carol), and Rachel McAdams (Spotlight).

Last year’s Best Actor in a Supporting Role victor, J.K. Simmons, presented Vikander with her win. “I flew in from Vietnam so I feel like I’m in another place but this is a childhood dream, I can’t believe I’m here”.

Alicia took home her first ever Oscar at the ceremony, being crowned the Best Supporting Actress.

In keeping with her Belle-themed look, Alicia styled her brown hair into slightly undone waves that were parted down the center and pulled half up into a mini knot.
