At two months old, the Time’s Up movement is catapulting from the red carpet to the main stage – as the activist organization will be formally featured in Sunday’s Academy Awards telecast. Influential people who want to use their powerful platform for advocacy should absolutely be taken seriously-and cross-examined over it. I think the dialogue in this film pushes it over the edge for me. Anything can qualify, practically. However, since women aren’t demanded the same “tough/weak stereotype” that men are, women are allowed to be more creatively vulnerable and can access a larger range of roles from any age, and not just because they hit 40 and pretend to wrestle with bears. “Many markets, many theaters, more money invested”.

With voting among the Academy’s 8,500 members closed since Tuesday, the frenzied and at times schmaltzy campaigning that perennially marks the awards merry-go-round can no longer impact the results. “A lot of people are concerned about it”.
