Oscars history looms for La La Land
Eleven films have previously won seven Oscars, eight films have won eight, three films have won nine and one film has won ten awards in a single year.
Jaws dropped, eyes went wide, and plenty of faces were in palms in disbelief as it was revealed that Moonlight had won best picture at the Oscars Sunday night, and not La La Land-which had been announced as the victor.
Breathless after her win, she continued: “I realise that a moment like this is a huge confluence of luck and opportunity”. To my mom and my dad and my brother, Spencer, and my soul sister, Chrissie, my whole family, I love you so much. Let’s talk a little bit about why Emma Stone deserves to win Best Actress!
The discussion is surely not going to end anytime soon and it seems even the Moonlight director just can not accept what happened.
He said: “This was a movie about love, and I was lucky enough to fall in love while making it”. The La La Land actress, widely regarded as the frontrunner to win Best Actress, arrived clad in a gold column gown by Givenchy, a custom couture look by Riccardo Tisci in what was likely among his final acts as creative director of the storied French house before he stepped down earlier this month.
She said, ‘I f****** loved Moonlight. “I think Moonlight is one of the greatest films of all time, so as far as I’m concerned I think this is the coolest outcome ever but the process of getting there was a trip!” The cast of “Moonlight” celebrates as “Moonlight” wins the best picture award at the Oscars on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Stone had already hit stardom before her first Oscar nomination, but now she joins an elite class of Oscar-winning leading ladies and becomes the first victor to say she is from Arizona.
If Meryl Streep has a movie releasing any year, the Academy Award jury has made it their agenda to nominate her despite how the movie looks like.
Speaking backstage, she told reporters: “I was holding my Best Actress in a Leading Role card that entire time”.
Emma was able to draw on personal experience to play Mia, as she knows what it feels like to be a struggling artist.
“We had a jarring moment”. But everything feels like real life. “Nothing changes when I go back home”.
In seven out of the past eight years, the victor of that award has gone on to claim Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Sound off your thoughts in the comments section below.
