Ouch! EA Sports Takes A Dig At Blair Walsh On Instagram
But the number of folks sending positive messages to the kicker has been pretty exciting – particularly the first-graders from Northpoint Elementary School who sent Walsh a bunch of notes to cheer him up.
The first-grade wing at Northpoint Elementary School isn’t usually a quiet place, and Thursday was no exception.
Myhre and her co-workers then gave their students the assignment to write a letter showing empathy and encouragement for Walsh.
With just roughly 1:40 left in the game, Walsh was called to nail a 27-yard field goal attempt.
Once you get past the cynical urges to wonder if Walsh would have gotten a parade had he missed one more field goal, you realize that this outpouring and reaction is in fact a nice story. It’s really important because these kids don’t know me. And FOX 9 says Walsh wrapped up his appearance by giving autographs and thanking the class again.
“I’m the one who didn’t do my job”, he said afterward. He spoke to the class and thanked them for their kind deeds.
“It says a lot about you guys that you were willing to do that and to say such nice things”. Unlike Walsh, the kids hit their homework out of the park.
“I felt sad for him, but now I feel better”, Sciara said. “I just didn’t put a swing on it that would be acceptable by anybody’s standards”.
Afterwards, Allen took to Twitter, calling the game one of the “most memorable” that he has ever called.
