Out of walking cast, Peyton Manning continues ‘healing process’
New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will be assessed on a week-to-week basis and has no fixed target for returning to action following an injury in Sunday night’s defeat to Denver.
The Denver Broncos are back on track with Brock Osweiler, though the team doesn’t appear to be in a hurry to decide between him and Peyton Manning as the long-term solution at quarterback.
Peyton Manning had the cast removed from his injured foot Wednesday, and is now wearing a walking boot hoping get healthy soon.
Kubiak said both Osweiler and Manning have been regularly apprised of what the plan is at quarterback and the approach will continue to be “week-to-week”. “I don’t think I’ve ever been so visibly pissed off after a loss. But I haven’t thought much more than about trying to get healthy”.
Coach Gary Kubiak reiterated his earlier point of view that Manning is the team’s starting quarterback whenever he’s ready to get back on the field.
The playoffs are rapidly approaching, which would seemingly be a bad time to make a quarterback change, even if Manning is the quarterback you’re bringing back into the lineup. That was just one of those situations last week where we didn’t play as well as we would’ve liked to for 60 minutes. We knew we were in a tough ball game and needed to play well in the second half. “I have a lot of respect for the players who take the field”. I think the biggest thing to remind myself is there’s no way I’m getting on that cover if it’s not for all those other guys…. Manning played poorly a week later in a 29-13 loss to the Chiefs, going 5 of 20 for just 35 yards and four interceptions before being benched in favor of Brock Osweiler. Is it better?’ The answer is: I don’t know because I’m not putting any pressure on it and it’s sort of immobilized.
They topped that number in their overtime win against New England, rushing for 179 yards and three touchdowns on a snow Sunday night despite falling behind the previously unbeaten Patriots by two touchdowns.
Peyton also told the Broncos website about the difference between a partial tear of the plantar fascia and a full tear. “Everybody says, ‘When did he say it’s going to get better?’ [He said], ‘When it heals, ‘ so some earth-shattering medical information there, ” Manning said. “It just sucks. I’m glad we’re not in a position where we’re – it is always hard to win, especially going on the road against good teams”.
“Sometimes we’re getting [the calls] and sometimes we don’t”, Brady said, via WEEI.
