Overwatch Beta Will Invite “Lots More Players” For Weekend Stress Test
Overwatch will invite more players to its closed beta with a special weekend-only event beginning Friday, Blizzard has announced.
Blizzard’s will put its Overwatch servers through their paces when the shooter’s beta kicks off on November 20, running for a total of three days.
Blizzard notes that because this is a stress test, the focus here is to receive “technical feedback, like how Overwatch runs on your system, your experience with the beta servers, critical bug reports, and other game-impacting problems”.
To help us get the most out of this testing phase, we will be flagging accounts for the Beta Test Weekend a little early, during a scheduled maintenance on Thursday, November 19.
The Overwatch beta now allows you to try out all 21 heroes within the game but on three maps only – Hanamura, King’s Row and Watchpoint: Gibraltar.
You will still need an invite from an already active player to get in, but there are a lot more slots opening up this coming weekend we’re told.
“If you’re selected to participate in this Beta Test Weekend, you’ll see an Install button appear in the Overwatch tab of your Battle.net desktop app as well as an Overwatch Beta license in the YOUR GAME ACCOUNTS section of Battle.net Account Management.” says Blizzard. Anyone who’s opted in for beta testing could be called up.
Are you excited for the Overwatch beta? From there, the studio will add the final sheen of polish to the team-based title ahead of its launch across PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in Spring 2016.
