Owner defends management of Atlantic City casino
Between 1991, the first full year of the Trump Taj Mahal’s operation, and 2004, the year Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts filed for bankruptcy, employment at Trump’s three casinos fell from 12,757 to 10,206, a 20 percent decline. “Here in Atlantic City and across America we’ve got to create more good jobs at good wages”, she added. At the time, Trump paid only a fraction to contractors he owned money for work.
“His businesses were failing long before the rest of the town was struggling”, Clinton said.

Clinton said her administration will rewrite the rules and crack down on companies that ship jobs overseas and profits to go with them.
“Donald Trump says he is qualified to be president because of his business record….he’s probably hoping nobody will check up… because what he did for his businesses and workers is nothing to brag about”.
Clinton will focus on his businesses’ multiple bankruptcies and will point to the presumptive Republican nominee’s prior statement that he’ll “do for the country what I did for my business”, the Clinton campaign said.
“He intentionally ran up hundreds of millions of debt on his companies, borrowed at high rates, defaulted on the loans, and in the end he bankrupted his companies not once, not twice but four times”, she said.
He said Clinton should ask Atlantic City’s Democratic politicians why they “made all the wrong moves” and “destroyed City”.
The exchange is according to a Democrat who attended the session and spoke on condition of anonymity to freely discuss the meeting.
“Donald Trump is simply unqualified and temperamentally unfit to be our president and commander-in-chief”, Clinton said during a campaign rally in Charlotte in North Carolina on Tuesday. “Then everything falls apart, people get hurt, and Donald gets paid”.
The Vermont senator says he was pleased by her announcement of a proposal that allows families with annual incomes of up to $125,000 to pay no tuition at in-state public colleges and universities. House Democrats met privately with Vermont Sen.
Clinton referenced his morning tweets, slamming Trump for taking pride in getting rich while his workers suffered. “He calls himself the king of debt, and he earned that title here in Atlantic City”.
Billionaire investor Carl Icahn is defending his management of Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal casino, which is in the fifth day of a strike by unionized workers.
The Republican presidential candidate writes: “I made a lot of money in Atlantic City and left 7 years ago, great timing (as all know)”.
Wednesday’s policy rollout is a direct overture to Bernie Sanders, the Vermont senator who posed a serious threat to Clinton in the Democratic primary and is yet to endorse her in the general election.
I realize that casinos may not be as sexy a story as email server protocols – the political world’s interest in IT appears to be endless – but Trump’s Atlantic City efforts show a wealthy developer who made millions while everyone else lost big. “There has never been any man or woman more qualified for this office than Hillary Clinton, ever”.
