Ozil deal was cheapest option for Arsenal – Wenger
Aubameyang trained with his team mates today but has been suffering from a virus this week so the Gabon global isn’t likely to be handed his first start tomorrow.
The Gunners reportedly agreed a fee worth €63.5m with Dortmund for the signature of the 28-year-old striker, who had been demanding a transfer since last summer. Aubameyang will be reunited with his former teammate in north London after the Armenia worldwide ended an unhappy spell at Manchester United and was included in a swap deal which saw Alexis Sanchez move in the opposite direction.
The Frenchman says that it would have cost an bad lot more to sign a replacement for the 29-year-old, particularly with it being the January transfer window.
Arsenal face Everton at home in today’s evening kick off. “It was a bit disturbing because we were very active in people going out, people coming in”, Wenger said, as quoted on the club’s official site.
They have conceded 34 goals in the Premier League – more than any other side in the top six.
The 2015 African Footballer of the Year isn’t shy about aiming high and has already admitted he would love to earn comparisons with Henry. He said that Aubameyang was a player whom he had admired for some time and was not anxious about his reputation for poor discipline.
But he has pledged his allegiance to the Gunners and, while I don’t understand it at all, fair play to him.
Aubameyang departed Dortmund with hurt feelings all around following his suspension by the club for a match against Wolfsburg after missing a team meeting. Iwobi’s time on the pitch will be elongated with the arrival of the Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the winter transfer window.
Ozil had nine goals and 20 assists during the 2015-16 season, for which he was named Arsenal’s player of the season.
“I wanted to do more”, Wenger said, responding to a question about Arsenal’s transfer window.
“I’m certain Mkhitaryan will start”.
Arsenal have acquired some serious firepower, and although Kevin Hatchard believes they have some big issues to address, they should blow away a fragile Everton defence.
