Pac-12 football: Arizona State rocks No. 7 UCLA
Mike Bercovici passed for 273 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score, and the Sun Devils got their season back on track with a raod win over the No. 7 Bruins on Saturday night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Thomas Duarte caught his second touchdown pass from Rosen with 9:19 to play, trimming the Sun Devils’ lead to 29-23. As well as UCLA played to start the season, the odds that it would go through Pac-12 play unscathed were minute.
Utah State was in the red zone three times in the second half – twice after recovering fumbles – but had to settle for field goals.
Arizona State (2-1) will probably be taking part in its meeting garage door opener along with a way to obliterate the frustration of this very team’s unbalanced nonconference showcases.
He was averaging 152 rushing yards his last three games, but Arizona State was committed to stopping Perkins and forcing freshman quarterback Josh Rosen beat them. Kirk Cousins won 27 games. The under is 4-0 in the Sun Devils’ last four games overall and 6-1-1 in the Bruins’ last eight home games. Brett Hundley threw for 355 yards and four touchdowns. Next week, ASU will face Colorado at home for their black-out game. His struggle seemed to have little impact, though, because he was still able to gain 64 yards on the carry.
Neal had 236 yards and a touchdown for the Cardinals. In the first quarter, neither team had a drive longer than 35 yards.
Young knows a stout run defense will be the key to shutting down a desperate opponent and avoiding a letdown, and he will be pushing his teammates to be focused on making sure those 21 missed tackles do not happen again. In their game against USC, they had 32-28 in time of possession but they just made too many errors and couldn’t win the game. Five of Haack’s seven punts were downed inside the 20-yard line, including one that bounced out of bounds at the one midway through the fourth quarter. Schechtman was named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week and to Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week last week for turning in a clean slate against the Ducks despite being peppered for a good chunk of the second half (she finished that contest with a career-high 10 saves).

There are no assists in football, but on this play, there might as well be. The sophomore had a flawless snap on an extra point in Tulane’s victory.
“He just works as hard as he can… and you reward that hard work, ” Tulane coach Curtis Johnson said.
Towards the end of the first quarter, things began to heat up. The Bruins record is now 4-1, 1-1 in the PAC-12. An offense averaging 36 points per game is keeping the pressure off that defense. But it was not just that which leads to their bad grade. It isn’t often a running back carries nearly an entire defense the final 10 yards on a scoring run, but that’s exactly what Kalen Ballage did while the Bruins hopelessly tried to bring him down. The two teams combined for 1,021 yards of total offense on the day. UCLA was installed as a favorite of almost two touchdowns. They need to pull tighter as a team and their defense can not keep missing tackles.
