Pacers complete deals with 3 veterans, complete rookie class
After a complicated first season with the Minnesota Timberwolves Philadelphia 76ers, Robinson has reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Pacers.
Robinson played in 35 games as a rookie, averaging 2.1 points.
Indiana traded a 2019 second-round draft pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Christmas last Thursday.
Robinson III was drafted 40th overall by the Minnesota in the 2014 draft, but was waived during the season.
Robinson III is also the son of former Purdue star Glenn Robinson. With a glut of wings already on the roster (Robert Covington, Jerami Grant, Hollis Thompson, Nik Stauskas, etc.), the Sixers declined to offer Robinson a qualifying offer, thus making him an unrestricted free agent.
Bleacher Report: “The Syracuse alum forced his way into the draft conversation after a big senior season with the Orange in which he averaged 17.5 points per game and 9.1 rebounds”. With the Pacers, he appeared in 20 games during the 2014-15 season. He was expected to re-sign after competing on Indiana’s summer league team.
Robinson is the fifth player, along with Myles Turner, Joe Young, Rakeem Christmas and Shayne Whittington, which the Pacers have added or re-signed this offseason under the age of 25.
“We think he’s ready to step in and play more minutes at two different positions”, Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird said of Allen in a statement.
