Pachter: The NX Will Cost Around $299

“If Nintendo gets the same level of support for NX that it got for the Wii U, it’s doomed before it launches”, said Pachter, speaking to Siftd [behind paywall] as noted by Nintendo Insider. Now the California Federal Court has ruled in much the same manner, concluding that Nintendo’s Wii U and Nintendo 3DS systems do not infringe the asserted patent.

“That’s much, much more important than the price”.

In the video, Pachter made it clear that he didn’t think the NX would be priced higher than the Xbox One or PS4 and that Nintendo has learned from the mistakes they made with the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

Even though Minecraft is not available on Nintendo consoles, the popular game is available on other home and handheld consoles – PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Minecraft on the Wii U signifies Microsoft’s drive to have the game reach a wider selection of audiences and console owners, not just those with a Xbox One or a PlayStation 4. So either the initial listing was meant to be a secret, or PEGI had erred and put up the wrong information and that Minecraft for the Wii U was never meant to be.

For now, there are tons of ways to play “Minecraft”, with majority of gaming consoles supporting it. Mobile versions of the title also available. “I think the lower the price the better, they’ll sell more at a lower price point”.

He has also backed Nintendo to do well in building a new audience midway through the Xbox One and PS4’s current lifecycles, which have yet to hit their full install base potential. In the official statementreleased following the announcement, it was revealed that the two companies would be working hand in hand in order to develop new hardware and software for Nintendo specifically the rumored “Nintendo NX”.
