Packers announce development plans for Titletown District
Murphy says they may seek a tax credit but there are no plans to seek another sales tax.
The Packers have been acquiring land and demolishing structures in recent years to prepare for the Titletown District.
“The more things that are there to offer the folks coming to town-the fans, the visitors, the tourists-I think everybody wins in a case like that”, said Scott Anderson, Cabela’s Green Bay Marketing Manager. Now it will have a neighborhood surrounding the field living up to those standards. The public area will have a number of highlights, including a skating rink and large Super Bowl ring. The facility will be geared toward injury prevention, performance improvement, and treatment and therapy for injuries. The facility will include a laboratory, X-ray and MRI services as well as sports nutrition and sports psychology services. The clinic will be staffed by longtime Packers team physician Dr. Patrick McKenzie.
“Just improving our play”, McCarthy said before Thursday’s practice, regarding what he’d like to see from the entire team. This facility is an opportunity to share a magnificent sports medicine facility with athletes of all abilities. “It keeps us on our game”.
The Green Bay Press Gazette is reporting that the project will feature a hotel, operated by Kohler Co., which includes the upscale American Club Resort, in Kohler, among its properties. The exterior walls will be retractable for outdoor activities on the plaza and include heated concrete and heat lamps for tailgating, events or concerts. The restaurant’s upper level will host a 50-75 seat restaurant with rooms for private events.
“This is a big day for us”, said Bill Tressler, owner and creator of Hinterland restaurant and artisanal brewery. “I mean this time last year I wasn’t playing”. The district will also feature retail and family entertainment businesses, and luxury townhouses with patios backing up onto the public plaza.
