Packers apply to host draft in ’19, ’20 or ’21
Green Bay Packers linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers will be interviewed by the National Football League regarding a recent report linking them to performance-enhancing drugs. Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said just over 8,000 people attended while they were expecting around 13,000 to 15,000.
In addition to the Green Bay Packers, Atlanta, Chicago, Canton, Dallas, Denver, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh has all petitioned the league to host.
Murphy explained how the Packers have given back to the community, that the Hail Mary Richard Rogers caught against the Detroit Lions was the play of the year and the addition of several players in free agency and the draft. It’s the 13th straight year with a new high for one of the NFL’s marquee teams.
The trimming of the Packers training camp roster began Monday with the release of five players.
By 2019, much of the Titletown District should be open and it will be the 100th anniversary for the Packers.
The Packers and Patriots are the only two teams in the league with seven straight playoff appearances, Murphy said, two years short of tying the record.
Both Peppers and Matthews have denied allegations in the report that they have used performance enhancing drugs.
Green Bay announced a new bacon-centric concession stand – named after the local Patrick Cudahy Packhouse – and fans went hog-wild, according to ESPN.
