Packers’ Clay Matthews stews over ‘cheap shot’ from Eagles OL
Merrill Reese has been an institution in Philadelphia for the last 40 years and is a voice of the Eagles Nation.
Whether it was the opening kickoff being taken back for a touchdown, the Gold Package crowd not providing the energy players have grown accustomed to or players simply overlooking the Colts, the Packers need to ensure they come out ready to take the fight to the Texans on Sunday afternoon.
Matthews, who briefly left the game due to the injury, is questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Houston Texans. The Packers held onto the ball for 34:46 as whiel the Eagles had it for just 24:36. The same with defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.
Definitely not with No. 1 running back Ryan Mathews sidelined and No. 1 receiver Jordan Matthews missing most of the second half. Green Bay rushed for 74 yards, averaging 2.6 yards per carry. He has thrown 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions – seven of which coming in the last six games.
The offenses cooled down after that, although Philadelphia added a 48-yard field goal by Sturgis right before halftime to make it 14-10 at the intermission. Rodgers finished the game with 313 passing yards and two touchdowns. Nelson Agholor out. Jordan Matthews left the game in the second quarter.
Additionally, Pederson hinted that he wants to see more of undrafted rookies Bryce Treggs and Paul Turner.
I don’t expect much from Paul Turner, who lacks the physical talent and was playing in his first National Football League game, but Treggs runs a 4.44 and can be an asset in the National Football League so I hold him to higher standards.
Wentz is the real deal.
How should the Eagles fix their shortage of quality receivers this offseason? It ended up not hurting the Packers – after a penalty on Philadelphia in punt formation, the Packers went for it and converted on fourth down – but you can bet it will come up in the postgame film review. They then host the Seattle Seahawks, who will likely be favorites, but were just thoroughly dominated against a mediocre Tampa Bay squad. Speaking for most of the men watching the game, thank you, Aaron.
The “Pack” are nowhere near to the complete team the Seahawks are, but they have a risky arsenal of weapons on offense that will stretch Jim Schwartz’s secondary thin.
“Everybody’s grouchy. They didn’t get any sleep last night”.
Read the latest news about the incoming administration on our Tracking the Transition page. “Because once that happened, he was able to find open receivers”. By far, these positions are the biggest needs, followed by offensive line and linebacker.
The schedule also does not help the Eagles.
Rodgers and the Packers, in three nightmarish hours, knocked them down to 13th place at 38.9 percent. “Just pretty much we didn’t get them in enough 3rd-and-longs”.
