Packers confirm Jordy Nelson out for year with significant knee injury
Green Bay wound up scoring on the drive with an Eddie Lacy touchdown and converted the two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead. However, the big news from this game was the loss of WR Jordy Nelson for the season.
Head coach Mike McCarthy has had high praise for the former second-round pick, as Adams has reportedly had quite an impressive offseason.
“I’m just in a position of listening to all the information”, McCarthy said of reports from the doctors.
God might not be a Green Bay fan. Pouncey limped to the sideline before being taken to the locker room on a cart.
Nelson wasn’t the only one injured.
Roethlisberger played into the second quarter, connecting on 11 of 14 for 100 yards a score.
That same ideal applied to my next gut reaction: The Green Bay Packers – and quarterback Aaron Rodgers – don’t have anyone to replace his production.
The injury to Nelson, though, leaves a major hole in the Packers’ offence. “It’s a 100% injury rate for every player. Some unfortunate things that go on, but we have to play the preseason games”.
Jordy Nelson came up limping on a play Sunday and went to the locker room. But Rodgers’ somber tone after the game foreshadowed the bad news for one of the league’s best offenses.
Packers officials have not yet confirmed that Nelson did, in fact, suffer a torn ACL.
The games don’t count. With that in mind, here’s a look at the five most disheartening wide receiver injuries ever. His numbers alone reflect that. “I think a lot of players around the league probably do [want to eliminate it]”.
Aaron Rodgers made the strongest statements yet against the preseason in his postgame comments following Nelson’s injury. The loss of these two wide receivers make it hard to gauge what it effect it will have on the teams quarterbacks, but for fantasy owners, it does make the Packers and Panthers running backs a bit more attractive. “There’s no sense talking about them”. Forcing season ticket holders to pay full price to see a watered down version of your product is good for the bottom line.
McCarthy said Tuesday that the offense would adjust and move on. I’ve had several [conversations] with him. If that’s the case, yeah, I’m ready.
Just not in the way they were figuring they’d need to.
Cobb and Adams were joined by Jeff Janis in the team’s three-wide sets at Pittsburgh on Sunday when Cobb was lost for the season.
“We don’t know (about Nelson)”, Adams said. He was like, ‘Yeah, I know.’ Just making sure.
Robert Meachem: With great size (6-foot-2, 210-pounds), Meachem could play the outside and even try to act like Nelson at times because he does have adequate speed in the open field.
Throughout camp, Montgomery has learned all three positions, but the coaches have liked what he offers inside.
“If you’re taking catches away from us and they’re going to someone else, [that’s great]”, Nelson said.
