Packers’ Eddie Lacy Needs To Lose Weight In Offseason, Mike McCarthy Says
“He’s got a lot of work to do”, McCarthy said (via GreenBayPressGazette.com’s Weston Hodkiewicz).
Eddie Lacy is just one of those squat, powerhouse running backs that comes along in the National Football League every few years. Now it seems like if he doesn’t get his weight under control, he could soon be out of a job. “His off season last year was not good enough, and he never recovered from it, He can not play at the weight he was at this year”.
Lacy was smaller as a rookie than he is now. The running back struggled with injuries throughout the season, which likely makes training hard. Unflattering photos surfaced and kind of confirmed these reports.
McCarthy didn’t discuss a target weight for Lacy, but it would appear the former Alabama star will need to drop at least 30 pounds and maybe more to put himself back into the shape that he was in when first entering the NFL. The team can issue fines for being too large but Lacy did not receive one. Everyone who has watched or followed the Packers for at least five minutes this season knows this to be the case. “And things need to happen in order to wake you up and show you that it can be taken away, it can get hard, but that’s how I would say it”.
Lacy rebounded slightly, posting three 100-yard games in four weeks starting in late November, but his production slipped again down the stretch. If Lacy does drop some pounds, good on him.
