Packers LB Clay Matthews calls Bears offense ‘one dimensional’

Just when the Green Bay Packers were about to ask beleagured (thanks Martellus Bennett) team physician Dr. In one whirling motion, he hugged Aaron Rodgers so hard it looked like it might crack the former MVP’s already-dodgy collarbone.

In his Bears debut, new receiver Dontrelle Inman caught a team-best six passes for 88 yards in the 23-16 loss to the Packers at Soldier Field on Sunday.

Airing it out: Mitch Trubisky’s 35 pass attempts and 297 yards Sunday both were career-highs for the second-overall pick, but things weren’t ideal. His quarterback rating was 58.3. A more ideal ratio is what was called against the Bears.

In that game against the Lions, it didn’t matter in the Packers sent five, seven, or all 11 defensive players, they could not get to Stafford. He completed 18 of 25 passes even though his hamstring tightened. Kyle Long, who was deemed healthy enough to suit up for the game, played a grand total of one play, blocking on a field goal late in the second quarter.

The difference in demeanor was clear.

The opening drive of the third quarter had the Packers start at the Chicago 46 thanks to a personal foul penalty on the final snap of the first half and Davis returned the kickoff 34 yards.

There were flaws, too. The possession started on Green Bay’s 8 after Trevor Davis inexplicably field a punt on his goal line.

Unfortunately, the Bears couldn’t pull out the win. I thought we did a great job. “We have to ride the wave”.
