Packers OT Bulaga injures knee
Bulaga, who received a five-year, $33.75 million deal from the Packers in the offseason, typically wears a brace to protect the knee.
Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga left Thursday’s practice after injuring his left knee and his status for this weekend’s game against the Seattle Seahawks was unclear.
Bulaga took part in drills during the portion of practice open to the media, but just before those nosy reporters were asked to leave, Bulaga stepped off to the side.
Offensive line coach James Campen said after practice that he was still waiting to hear from the medical staff on Bulaga’s condition and didn’t have an update.
Bulaga did not tear his ACL as first feared and suffered only a sprained MCL, according to a source.
More as we know it.
Bulaga missed all of the 2013 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in that left knee, and he got a scare in last year’s regular-season opener in Seattle when he went down again.
He wasn’t available in the locker room after practice but Josh Sitton thought he might have had his cleats catch in the turf doing a drill but Sitton admitted he didn’t see it happen.
Tackle Don Barclay said he finished practice at right tackle.
Teammates have regularly praised Bulaga for his toughness, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he wanted to play on Sunday.
Barclay struggled during preseason but spent much of his time at left tackle. He escaped serious injury – and credited his post-ACL protective brace for saving him – and only missed one game because of a sprained medial collateral ligament in the knee. However, the team is still diagnosing the severity of the injury.
