Packers strive for balance against Vikings
That’s a bad way to go into an NFC North championship game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night. The Vikings were one of the more popular bets in the preseason futures market, but they were still 5-to-1 to win the NFC North as opposed to the Packers’ minus-300 as the season began. He is 64 yards ahead of Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin in rushing yards and has his eyes set on a third rushing title.
A victory Sunday night by the Packers, combined with a Seattle Seahawks’ triumph over the Cardinals, would leave the Vikings playing at Green Bay again in the opening round of the playoffs.
Expect Green Bay to lean heavily on Eddie Lacy this week against Minnesota, as he’s averaged 129 yards from scrimmage and scored 6 touchdowns in five career games against the Vikings. The Vikings fell to 2-4 and lost three of their next four. The Vikings can take advantage of Green Bay’s susceptibility to starting the second half slowly.
No. 12 also is 11-4 against the Vikings, including 1-0 in the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers only had 151 rushing yards and was sacked nine times.
If the Vikings win it will mark the first time since 1991 that the Bears, Lions and Vikings all won at Lambeau Field in the same season. The victor will host a wild-card game next weekend, while the loser will have to go on the road. “I definitely feel we can beat any team, but we’ve just got to go out and prove it”. Christian Ponder threw three touchdowns in the best game of his career. They’re coming off a convincing win and obviously we’re coming off being [on] the other side of that.
The New York Jets will try to grab the last AFC wildcard with a win against ex-coach Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills.
This will be familiar territory for the Packers as they play for the division in their regular-season finale on a third straight occasion.
“I pride myself on being that guy who does it once or twice in a game, whether it’s the (tackles for losses) from the last Minnesota game or whatever it may be, I’ve got to find a way to show up”, Matthews said. “But they seem to play really well in those prime time games at night at Lambeau Field”.
“We could play on a basketball court, and I’ll be ready to play for this one”, he says. The Packers allowed as many sacks (8) as they had points (8) in the blowout loss at Arizona.
Green Bay’s defense has been largely to blame, however. If the Vikings win, it will be the first time since 1968 that the Packers have lost to all three division opponents at home.
The Green Bay Packers are a bad offensive team right now. From 2012 to 2014, concussions during the regular season have declined 35 percent. He failed miserably as the Packers easily rolled to a 24-10 wild-card win, Minnesota’s last postseason appearance.
“To send them home packing, that would be great”, Dixon said.
“They’re going to be fired up”.
The Packers are more concerned about momentum going into the playoffs.
Adrian Peterson is poised for a big game, young QB Teddy Bridgewater is also having a very solid second season.
The information provided by the IndyStar source is similar to a report from Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, who said in November that Luck was dealing with fractured ribs and was playing through the pain. “We know that we have a big-time game coming up (against the Packers), but we don’t want to make the game bigger than what it is”. In my answer to the last question, I talked about all the positive steps the League has taken to make the game safer.
“It’s been clear to me that Mario doesn’t care about anybody but himself”, the teammate said. Rodgers threw for 365 yards and four touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as the Vikings won 37-34 on Blair Walsh’s game-ending field goal.
The benefits of losing has been a subject of discussion among Vikings fans and in this ESPN piece, albeit it looks at the benefits of the Packers losing.
Those could be interpreted as over-adjustments considering not much has changed from the teams’ first meeting.
