Packers won’t bring back Eddie Lacy pal Alonzo Harris
The California women’s swimming & diving program dominated the 100 butterfly on Friday, highlighting a terrific day for the Golden Bears at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals.
Alonzo Harris, another running back, was actually released from the team and what transpired after this was pretty instructive on what the Packers think about Eddie Lacy.
Owner Martha Ford, though, fired general manager Martin Mayhew and team president Tom Lewand, and the team used the bye week to work on the offensive changes made by new offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.
“That’s not always going to be the case”, linebacker Clay Matthews said, “as you’ve seen this year”.
But, in a loss like the Lions suffered Thursday, the good plays quickly become forgotten, which is why Tapp wanted to make sure Taylor was handling his media responsibilities OK. “That’s what resulted in Eddie’s reps”, McCarthy said.
On Thursday night against the Detroit Lions, with their season on the brink of ruin, the Packers came up with one of the most memorable moments in franchise history.
With the ball moved up to the 39, Rodgers figured he could throw all the way to the end zone, but he needed to buy enough time for his receivers to make it down there.
Harris is a big body and should be able to catch on elsewhere but the door to Green Bay is closed for him. Bynes followed Adams to the end zone, leaving Richard Rodgers alone.
Harris and Lacy missed curfew last Wednesday night.
Rodgers: “I don’t know why he wouldn’t”. “Not 60 yards in the air, but he caught two out of three”. They forced four straight punts, including three straight three-and-outs. CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Richard Rodgers Sr. had bragging rights over his son for his role in “The Play”, which gave Cal an unlikely victory over Stanford in 1982 with the Cardinal band on the field.
But Randall Cobb fell on the fumble in the end zone for a touchdown, and Green Bay outscored the Lions 27-3 in the final 20:53.
Matthew Stafford threw touchdown passes to Eric Ebron and Johnson in the first half, and Detroit led 17-0 at halftime.
“He had [the lateral] and he caught the winning touchdown”, said the father, an assistant defensive backs coach for the Panthers.
“All I saw was the dude catching the ball”, cornerback Darius Slay said.
Rodgers Sr. was Cal’s special teams captain in that 1982 game against Stanford.
As bad as the NFC is, there’s no way for 8-8 to get in, and the silent Lions locker room showed how much momentum had been destroyed on one play.
But soon unusual things started happening. The penalty gets called. After a bounce back win against Minnesota, Rodgers struggled again and was out-dueled by Jay Cutler. “I couldn’t write a better script than that”. “The whole thing is to never be satisfied, and it’s just one of those things where I want to keep improving and improving every week just to make myself better and better”. “But the Doug Flutie play was just a Hail Mary, too”. Rodgers would go on to win the MVP, and after Morgan Burnett picked off Russell Wilson with the Pack up nine late in the game, it looked like the town-team hero would be back in the Big Game.
