Pak Army Chief approves death sentence of nine terrorists
Earlier today, General Raheel Sharif approved death sentences of nine hardcore terrorists.
“Development of Gwadar Port would provide better facilities of life to them and would play a vital role in progress and prosperity of the region”, he said while talking to the residents of the area in Gwadar.
“Inshallah we will be able to break the webs of curses like terrorism, crime and corruption with the support and backing of the entire nation whereby paving the way towards dispensation of justice thus achieving lasting peace”, he added.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief reached Gwadar after visiting Talar and Turbat, and met the Baloch elders.
“This will also be year of national solidarity”, General Raheel said. Supporters of these courts defend the practices, saying that cases used to drag on for years in civil processes, enabling suspects to intimidate witnesses and escape punishment due to loopholes in the law.
The chief of the army staff asserted 2016 would be the year of national unity and peace.
Gen Sharif said: “Pakistan is on way to success and happiness and the people of Balochistan will also benefit from this”.
The army chief was briefed in detail about the law and order situation in Balochistan, particularly in Makran division, and progress made in the ongoing projects. He was told that overall security situation in Makran division had improved, and graph of militancy had declined considerably.
He asked the law enforcement agencies to make the security of Chinese engineers working on Gwadar Port and labourers deployed on other projects in Balochistan more effective.
While highlighting the importance of the under-construction projects, Gen Sharif said all possible measures would be taken in collaboration with the provincial government to make Gwadar a safe city for local and foreign investors. He emphasised that the potential of Balochistan as a regional hub for trade in goods and energy will only be realised with a whole of nation approach for its security and development.
