Pak PM to visit Qatar to sign multi-billion dollars gas deal
The prime minister and his delegation was received at the Hamad International Airport by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasir bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Prime Minister of Qatar and Dr Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister for Energy.
During the visit, the prime minister will hold meetings with the Emir and his counterpart, and will be called on by senior cabinet ministers of Qatar.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister said Pakistan offers attractive incentives for foreign investment.
Pakistan and Qatar on Wednesday have signed four agreements and Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) to increase cooperation in diverse fields between the two countries.
Later, the Emir hosted a luncheon banquet in the honour of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the delegation accompanying him.
“HH the Emir of Qatar paid a landmark visit to Pakistan on March 23-24, 2015”.
The most important agreement signed is regarding import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar. The document was signed by Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chairman Qatar Gas Board of Directors, Saad Sharida.
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister attended the banquet along with a number of other ministers.
The two leaders also discussed a number of regional and worldwide issues of mutual concern, particularly the latest developments in the Middle East. Following the talks, the Emir and the Pakistani Prime Minister witnessed the signing of several bilateral agreements. Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with Qatar.
“The two countries enjoy friendly and fraternal relations marked by close cooperation and share perception on various regional and worldwide issues”.
Last summer, the Pakistani government said it was training some 200,000 of its people to work as blue-collar workers in Qatar to help build the Gulf country’s infrastructure in the run-up to the 2022 World Cup.
Other topics of discussion will include employment opportunities for Pakistanis, according to the Peninsula.
