Pak Singer Ghulam Ali’s Concert Should be Cancelled: Shiv Sena
Training their guns on activities related to Pakistani artists and performances in Mumbai, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday opposed the scheduled ghazal concert of singer Ghulam Ali.
Pakistani artist Ghulam Ali was scheduled to perform a live concert in Mumbai on Friday, 9th of October 2015.
Shiv Sena, a hardline outfit founded by the late Bal Thackeray, has in the past threatened Pakistani athletes to deter them from engaging in competitive sports in India.
The Chitrapat Sena said the Shiv Sena has “always been of the view that Pakistan has been attacking our country to disturb its secular fabric”.
Outraged fans of the legendary singer took to Twitter to vent their anger. Once they do, action will be taken.
In New Delhi, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi voiced disagreement with Sena’s threat, saying, “This is not justified”.
Ghulam Ali said, “I have not cancelled the concert but atmosphere was not conducive for me to perform”. Such messengers of peace should not face restrictions of boundaries.
“We respect the art and artistes of Pakistan”.
According to reports, the hall authorities have asked the organisers to give undertaking that there will be no risk at the show.
“Today we are requesting them (organisers) to cancel the programme but if they don’t then we will be forced to protest in our style”, he warned.
This is not the first time that Shiv Sena has demonstrated hostility towards Pakistani artists.
Earlier, the Sena protested against Pakistan singer Atif Aslam’s concert and the Pakistan cricket team playing in India.
