Pakistan army rescues chief justice’s son, kidnapped in June
According to ISPR, Awais Shah has been recovered on the basis of intelligence-based operation from custody of terrorists near Tank. Shah’s kidnappers were taking him to Afghanistan when their vehicle was intercepted and a gun battle ensued in which three militants were killed.
“All credit goes to the army”, said the judge, adding that the army chief had been personally monitoring the team formed by DG ISI to recover his son.
The Chief Justice said “Army Chief General Raheel Sharif telephoned me at 3 o’clock last night and informed me of my son”.

Shah was transported to Faisal Base Karachi from Tank in a special aircraft and later shifted to his home under tight security, DawnNews reported.
Shah’s father said he did not know which group kidnapped his son. He also congratulated Sindh Chief Justice on the recovery of his son.
He also congratulated the security forces for carrying out a successful operation.
Violence has dropped significantly countrywide since 2014, when the military launched an operation in the tribal areas along the Afghan border, but attacks against both civilians and security forces are common.
Meanwhile Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was ecstatic over the recovery of his son and he thanked the Pakistan Army for their efforts to find and bring him back.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed law enforcement agencies in Sindh to work in close liaison for the rescue of Barrister Ovais Ali Shah and keep judicial authorities updated on the case.
At the time of his kidnap, police suspected the group involved meant to use him as a bargaining chip in negotiations to free imprisoned Islamist militants.
