Pakistan committed to eradicate polio: Nawaz Sharif
Both the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan are scheduled to speak at COP21 Climate Change Conference’s inaugural session in Paris which will be attended by 140 heads of state and government.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and regional and worldwide situation including Afghan issue, state media reported.
During the second retreat session, held with the agenda of implementation of SDGs and migration, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif informed other leaders that Pakistan has been facing the issue of migrants and refugees for more than 35 years. The prime minister expressed satisfaction that Pakistan had been able to significantly reduce the number of polio cases.
He said this during his meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) at Fort Angelo in Maltese capital Valletta on Friday.
The Prime Minister extended cooperation in counter-terrorism and intelligence sharing to France.
PM Nawaz while addressing the summit said Pakistan is completely following the conditions of the United Nations Security Council.
Pakistan, through the Commonwealth platform, has sent a clear message across the globe that it is committed to address the global challenges including terrorism and climate change to make the world a better and peaceful place to live.
The two sides also discussed the areas for joint cooperation, including education and research, civil services reform and governance, and energy sector.
Prime Minister Nawaz also attended a banquet hosted by Queen Elizabeth II for the heads of Commonwealth countries and their spouses.
