Pakistan resolves row over tainted paceman Mohammad Amir
Pakistani One Day International (ODI) captain Azhar Ali likely to leave captaincy if talented Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir selected for ODI team.
Meanwhile, Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq described the return of Amir to the national squad as a hard state of affairs for the gamers and the PCB.
Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez has joined the training camp but it seems like both have not accepted Mohamamd Amir’s inclusion and they both do not want Amir to play for Pakistan side again.
The development came following meeting of Azhar and Hafeez with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan today (Saturday), where they were assured their grievances would be redressed.
Amir, who is in the selection mix after serving a five-year ban for his role in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal, was one of the 26 probables named for the pre-season conditioning camp in the build-up to the New Zealand tour.
Earlier, the former T20 captain Mohammad Hafeez said his stance was not for any individual, and people misunderstood his viewpoint. “We will not back down on our stance but are willing to discuss the matter with PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan”, Azhar was quoted as by a local media channel.
The country’s cricket board further insisted that the left-hander had cooperated with multiple investigations and said that Amir was 19 years old when he was indicted.
“After hearing their concerns we informed them that they have to abide by the policy or we won’t have any option but to take disciplinary action”.
In November, Hafeez had reportedly turned down an offer in the Bangladesh Premier League from the Chittagong Vikings franchise, which had enlisted Amir.
But in September this year the International Cricket Council lifted sanctions against the three players.
He showed remarkable form on his return, taking 22 wickets in the non-first-class event followed by 34 in four qualifying rounds of the Quaid-e-Azam trophy.
