Pakistan should play series in India only if revenue is shared : Afridi
Pakistan is reluctant to visit India due to increasing security concerns emanating from threats of violence from India’s Shiv Shena. “I found it very disturbing that they want us to travel to India for our home series”, Khan said.
However, BCCI Chairman has said that no final verdict has been reached regarding the fate of the series.
Talking to the media in Lahore, Misbah said just like everyone else he wanted to witness and play in an India-Pakistan series.
The BCCI top official also raised the possibility of financial compensation to the PCB if Pakistan agrees to play its own “home” series in India.
When asked to comment on a scandal involving batsman Umar Akmal, the PCB chairman said that an inquiry has been initiated into the matter and its findings would be made public shortly.
Najam Sethi, the chief of PCB, has also nodded on the support for the Indian counterpart.
“Manohar also said that the Indian Board would provide the best security to our team and schedule the matches in places like Mohali and Kolkata where there is no problem at playing a Indo-Pak match”, he added.
“If we get a formal proposal suggesting that the series be played in India, I would categorically reject it and advise the board of governors to not accept any such offers”, Sethi, who was the chairman of the PCB when an agreement on bilateral series was signed between Pakistan and India, said.
However, the Press Trust of India quoted Manohar issuing a denial that they had approached the government for clearance. “So we need to speak to the government and abide by whatever decision the government takes”.
“But this time if the Indian board gives in writing they will give revenues to Pakistan if the series is held in India, than it can be done”.
“I told Manohar, ‘how can we play in India when there is so much anti-Pakistan sentiments there by a few of their groups?’ We have played our last two series in India and I think it is time we now get to host the series”.
