Pakistan to respond to Saudi’s territorial integrity threat
Saudi Arabia’s defence minister and deputy crown prince, Mohammad bin Salman, is arriving Islamabad on Sunday (Tomorrow), Radio Pakistan reported.
Matters related to regional security and defence cooperation came under discussion during the meeting, said an Inter-Services Public Relations press release.
The army chief said that Pakistan enjoys excellent relations with Saudi Arabia, adding that safety of the Gulf States is of huge importance for Pakistan.
During his visit, defence minister to meet prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Raheel Sharif and Khawaja Asif. Saudi Arabia is asking Pakistan for military help at a time when Pakistan’s military is fighting a war against Wahhabi terrorists within its own territory.
A source said that the Saudi defence minister is expected to conclude a military cooperation arrangement during the trip, which the two sides have been negotiating recently.
Prince Muhammad visits Pakistan just days after the Saudi foreign minister paid official visit to the country.
A military official described intensified contacts as part of Riyadh’s heightened diplomatic outreach to allied countries amid aggravating tensions with Iran.
The visit is also significant in the context of Saud-Iran hostility in which Pakistan has offered to play thr mediator’s role.
