Pakistan will cooperate with India on Pathankot investigation: PM Nawaz
India toughened stand against Pakistan on Thursday after sharing a fresh set of evidence against the handlers – Ashfaq Ahmad, Hafiz Abdul Shakur and Kasim Jaan – who had given instructions to the terrorists who carried out attacks on the air base on January 2-4.
Among those who attended the meeting were Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasser Khan Janjua, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Intelligence Bureau chief Aftab Sultan.
Jaish-e-Mohammad, a terrorist outfit operating from Pakistan, is suspected to be behind the shooting at the air base.
Rakesh Sood, India’s former Ambassador to Nepal, Afghanistan and France, said he thinks there is a certain amount of seriousness in terms of responding to the terror attack case and Pakistan seems to be making an effort to punish the perpetrators of the attack.
“And as for the Mumbai attackers, we’ve said and I’ll say it again today: We obviously want to see all the perpetrators brought to justice”, Kirby said.
India’s foreign ministry said Islamabad has been given actionable intelligence that those who planned the assault came from Pakistan.
Islamabad/New Delhi-A high-level meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, discussed evidence provided by India regarding a recent attack on an Indian Air Force base Pathankot near Pakistan’s border.
Swarup stated that India will not compromise on cross-border terror and the dialogue with Pakistan is aimed toward “peace and tranquillity”.
PM Sharif has promised his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi of decisive action on the given proof.
“The details of these four persons have been shared with Pakistan and we are awaiting a response from them”, said a government official.
The spokesperson’s words are the sharpest public comments from the government on the Pathankot attack that left seven Indian soldiers dead.
Swarup was replying to a query about the status of Indo-Pak Foreign Secretary-level talks.
The JeM has already claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, MA Durrani, former Pakistan National Security Advisor, said, “It is unfortunate that Pathankot terror attack happened just after a PM Modi visited Pakistan to meet his counterpart”. The meeting also reviewed regional security situation.
