Pakistani media calls PM Modi’s speech venomous
‘He has shown a mirror to the Pakistani people.
Zardari said Pakistan has always been victim of terrorism.
Congress on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “shooting the breeze” on the Uri terror attack in his speech at the BJP meet and said that “verbal belligerence” can never be a substitute for policy and action.
A South Block source, who was among those who helped craft the PM’s speech Saturday, told The Sunday Express that Modi’s statements are aimed at not just domestic expectations but also at the global community – especially since External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj may be asked in NY about India’s response template in the wake of the Uri attacks.
Immediately after the Uri attack, the Prime Minister had vowed in a strongly-worded tweet that he will not let the perpetrators go “unpunished”. The attack claimed the lives of 18 Indian soldiers.
British newspaper Telegraph reported in May 2014 that Modi had said, in an interview to an Indian news outlet, that “India and Pakistan can together write a new chapter in the development of South Asia if the two countries were to concentrate on fighting poverty and unemployment”.
‘Today, Pakistan has been told in strong words that India will not tolerate terrorism, ‘ said Prasad. News agency ANI said during the meeting, the PM discussed the prevailing security conditions in the wake of the deadly Uri attack and India’s response to the audacious attack which took place on Sunday.
Asserting that Pakistan was behind terror incidents in Afghanistan, Bangladesh besides India, he said, “Across the world wherever a terrorist incident happens you will find that either terrorists had gone from there (Pakistan) or come to live there like Osama-bin Laden”. He indicated that India’s efforts will be directed at isolating Pakistan diplomatically, saying it has already succeeded in this regard and will speed up measures in this regard. The Prime Minister said India had never bowed to terror and will never do so in future and will strive to defeat it. “If they had been successful in all the other attempts consider the damage they could have caused, he said praising the armed forces”, Modi added.
