Palace accept Bristol City bid for Gayle
The reports suggest that a bid in the region of £6m has been tabled for the forward and Gayle is now free to talk with Bristol City to discuss personal terms.
Crystal Palace midfielder Jonny Williams is set for another loan spell with Fulham, Wolves and Bristol City all said to be keen.
The former Bishop’s Stortford man was thrown in at the deep end in Palace’s return season in the Premier League, making 25 appearances and scoring eight goals.
Gayle would do just that.
The 24-year-old was a club record signing in a deal worth £6m when he joined Palace from Peterborough in 2013.
He started off his footballing career at the Arsenal academy but was released in his teenage years.
For the Posh, Gayle had found the net 13 times in the Championship in 28 starts, having joined the club on an initial loan from Dagenham & Redbridge before signing for the club permanently in the 2013 January transfer window.
Sky Sports News says the Championship newboys, who lost 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day, want the Eagles frontman to add some extra firepower to their side and have seen their bid accepted.
