Palestine welcomes `historic go to` by President Mukherjee
India also extended a line of credit of 100 Million dollars to Jordan. Both the leaders also held bilateral talks and discussed issues of strategic importance.
President Pranab Mukherjee today left on a six-day landmark visit to Israel and Palestine, becoming the first Head of Indian State to visit these two nations and providing an opportunity for him to impress upon the leadership there to reduce tensions.
Mukherjee arrived in Amman on Saturday noon on the first leg of a five-day tour, which will take him through Jordan, Palestine and Israel, a first for an Indian president in all three parts.
He immediately got down to business upon landing here on board a special Air India flight, following which he was accorded a ceremonial welcome, a guard of honour and 21-gun salute in the forecourt of the presidential office.
“The individuals and the management of Palestine welcome this historic go to of the president of India and his accompanying excessive-degree delegation to the holy land as a visitor and an in depth pal of Palestine”, stated an official assertion from the Palestine embassy right here.
He said the two countries abhor extremism and terrorism in all forms, and believed in religious harmony.
It is estimated that the project will generate around $300 million by exporting phosphoric acid to India.
India and Jordan have agreed to exchange information to combat terrorism.
President Mukherjee will go to Palestine on October 12 from Jordan, where he will hold meetings with Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas, Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and other leaders. It was formalised in 1950 when full diplomatic ties were established.
