The ministry of external affairs spokesperson said that India’s reason for abstention in the resolution A/HRC/29/L.35 was the reference to the worldwide Criminal Court (ICC).
Israel has been in touch with the leaders of the five countries that abstained since last July, when India had voted against Israel in the UNHRC.

But on at least two occasions, India had voted in favour of UNHRC resolutions criticising the Syrian government even though they directly referred to the ICC, documents studied by The Telegraph show.
Earlier, Israel’s internal security agency said it had uncovered a Hamas militant cell operating in the Nablus area of the West Bank.

India stood with only four other countries – Kenya, Ethiopia, Macedonia and Paraguay – that abstained from voting on yesterday’s resolution.
It also criticized the “indiscriminate” firing of thousands of rockets and mortar rounds at Israel, which it said appeared to be have been intended to “spread terror” among Israeli civilians.
