Palestinian Dies of Wounds from Thursday Hebron Clash
During the conflict, more than 2,000 Palestinians were killed, the vast majority of them civilians, while 66 Israeli soldiers died.
Stephen Miller, who led the poll analysis, said there is a marked difference between generations, with younger British Jews more likely to be pro-peace. “We will find the despicable murderers and bring them to justice as we have in the past”, he said.
While al-Sharawi’s family said their mother was on her way to lunch at a relative’s home, Amnesty stated that even if she had planned to carry out an attack, “the imminent danger had passed and accordingly … the use of lethal force was unlawful”.
The military said the “terrorist fled the scene” after the attack and that troops were searching the area.
Hebron is the epicenter of tension in the current wave of violence between the Palestinians and Israelis that is ongoing for the second month.
So far in the two months of violence, 14 Israelis have died, mostly in stabbing attacks, while 81 Palestinians have been killed.
A Palestinian was shot dead during clashes yesterday with the army in Hebron, Palestinian medics said.
The decision was made at a meeting held in Brussels on Wednesday, where the European Commission adopted an ‘indication of origin of goods from the territories occupied by Israel since June 1967.’ These areas are classed as the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights. It will not help to restart the moribund peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, and may only entrench an Israeli government that believes that it is unfairly singled out by a hostile and, in its view, anti-Semitic global community.
Blair’s return comes at a hard time. The Syrian civil war and rise of the Islamic State militant group have largely pushed the Palestinian issue off the global agenda.
Jihad Shawar, director of Al-Ahli hospital, said more than 20 undercover Israeli forces entered the hospital overnight.
Minutes later, the men, a few wearing traditional Palestinian scarves and others donning what appear to be fake beards and moustaches, push a man in a wheelchair – apparently the arrested suspect Azzam Shalaldeh – back down the hall, as perplexed nurses look on.
Israeli farmers and wine growers in the West Bank said they were anxious about the impact on their business and the knock-on affect on Palestinians who work on their farms.
Israel claimed that Azzam al-Shalalda was in the hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds he sustained when he allegedly tried to stab an Israeli settler two weeks ago. (My cousin) was inside the bathroom and wanted to wash for prayer.
Eight minutes later, footage showed the agents with guns drawn leaving with someone else in a wheelchair, presumably the suspect. But it’s rare for their activities to be captured so vividly on camera.
