Palestinian gunmen shoots dead two Israelis in West Bank: medics
An Israeli army spokeswoman stated Shalalda and his family, together with a cousin killed within the raid, have been recognized operatives of the Palestinian Islamist militant group Hamas. Then came Friday’s killings.
Last month, the Israeli cabinet ordered an intensification of punitive home demolitions against Palestinians who purportedly attack Israelis.
Three Palestinians were shot dead in Hebron and Ramallah yesterday. They see the measures as an effective boycott of Israel – akin to the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement that has gained traction in recent years – and say other cases of long-standing occupation, such as Morocco’s seizure of Western Sahara, are not treated in the same way. Amro said shopkeepers and students living outside the area were not allowed to enter to shop or attend school.
Every incident merely worsens the feelings of distrust.
Dr Jihad Shawar, director of al-Ahli Hospital, told Al Jazeera the Israeli unit entered the facility at about 3am local time.
“The hospital must be the safest place for all”, said Shawar.
Since October 1, Israeli troops or settlers have killed at least 84 Palestinians, including unarmed protesters, bystanders and alleged attackers. Two of the settlers were killed and one injured.
Meanwhile in Hebron, angry doctors and nurses, along with Palestinian Authority officials, demonstrated outside Al Ahli hospital on Thursday morning against the raid.
“We will get to these heinous murderers and we will bring them to justice as we have done in the past”, he said in a statement.
Israeli forces rushed to the scene and spread out in the area to search for the attacker, who escaped from the scene.
Their goal is to destroy Israel. Throngs of Palestinians took to the streets the next day for the funeral of that man, identified by Awad as 27-year-old Abdallah Shalaldeh. Mohammad Mohtasseb and his family watched the burial live from their Hebron living room on Palestinian Al-Quds TV.
In Hebron, Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian during stone-throwing violence.
“While the number of attacks by Palestinians on Israeli civilians, soldiers and police has increased significantly since the beginning of October, there is never any excuse for the Israeli military and police forces using lethal force where it is not warranted”.
Israel Defense Forces troops surrounded the nearby Palestinian town of Yatta and are searching for suspects.
“There are very big Jewish communities in Europe and I don’t think they will not buy Israeli products because of the labeling”, he said.
The violence erupted in Jerusalem over tensions surrounding a holy site sacred to both Jews and Muslims and quickly spread throughout Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
That reasoning matches with what military intelligence Chief Herzl Halevi said earlier this month during an Israeli Cabinet meeting.
