Palestinian killed by Israeli police

The Palestinian bus system in the West Bank is already underfunded and its operations are regularly hindered or halted by military checkpoints, clashes, and random passenger ID checks.

A police spokeswoman said the man got out of a taxi near a military post and began running toward officers, brandishing a knife.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon on Friday told Israelis to be prepared for more attacks by Palestinians.

Israel has said the unrest stems from incitement by Palestinian leaders.

Friday’s attacks were the latest in the recent surge in violence that broke out in September after Israel imposed restrictions on worshipers at Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. For the Israelis, that means holding off on settlement construction. “The global community therefore should play a role in helping to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital”.
