Palestinian motorist shot after ramming Israeli troops – army
The Palestinian Football Federation has postponed the second leg of the Palestine Cup final, between the champions of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, after Israel denied entry permits to some of the Gaza players, sport officials said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties in the attack on the armed wing of the Islamic militant movement Hamas.
Last month, Israeli police entered Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites, as they clashed with Palestinians angered by Jews’ access to the compound on an annual day of Jewish mourning.
Israel’s military – on Friday launched an airstrike on a training facility of Hamas’ armed faction the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, hours after a rocket fired from Gaza struck outside a nearby Israeli community.
The Palestinians accuse Israel of not doing enough to protect them from extremist Jewish settlers. According to IDF officials, the two projectiles evidently exploded near the northern Gaza border.
The Israeli military confirmed the air strike in a statement, saying that the rocket, which targeted civilians in southern Israel, landed in an open area, causing no injuries.
Israel holds Gaza’s Hamas rulers responsible for all attacks stemming from the territory.
The security cabinet would seek to advance legislation that would fight terrorist acts of Jewish extremists and establish a ministerial committee to be headed by Defensce Minister Moshe Yaalon in order to come up with solutions to prevent such attacks from happening in the future.
