Palestinian stabs four in southern Israel town
Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency medical service said one of the four was in serious condition, two were moderate and another lightly hurt.
The decision will be in force while authorities re-examine how and why the assailant, now in police custody, was given a work permit.
An Israeli woman was stabbed to death and three Palestinian attackers were killed in a series of incidents in the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Sunday, police said, as an eight-week-old wave of bloodshed showed no signs of dying down.
The military said the woman pulled out a knife at the entrance to a military base and began approaching civilians at the spot.
The army did not confirm who the attacker was targeting. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Thursday that the government would crack down on such employers.
Elsewhere in the West Bank, a Palestinian driving a taxi cab tried to run over Israelis east of Jerusalem, police said.
Eighteen Israelis and others have died, along with 80 Palestinians, in a wave of violence over the past seven weeks.
Also in the flashpoint city, Israeli police said a woman acting suspiciously and allegedly in possession of a knife was arrested.
Palestinian allegations that Israel was trying to alter the religious status quo at a Jerusalem holy site, known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary, where al-Aqsa mosque stands, and to Jews as Temple Mount, have partly fuelled the violence.
Over the past two months, Palestinian attacks have killed 17 Israelis, mostly in stabbings, while 84 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire. The Palestinians counter by saying it is a result of frustration from almost a half-century of occupation.
