Palestinians arrested over murder of Israeli father and son: army
Israeli troops shot dead at least two Palestinians during a gun battle in the occupied West Bank on Monday, Palestinian medical sources said, amid a weeks-old wave of violence.
The army said Palestinians opened fire at the forces who returned fire at the attackers.
The military says three “hits” were confirmed.
In video footage obtained by Ma’an news agency, Israeli officials have been captured on film hurling abuse at a 13-year-old Palestinian child accused of stabbing two Israelis in East Jerusalem last month during the child’s interrogation.
Laith Assad Munasra, age 21, and Ahmad Abu al Aish, age 28, were killed as fierce clashes broke out to protest the invasion of hundreds of Israeli soldiers into the Ramallah-area refugee camp, home to over 10,000 residents.
He cited an example from a religious lesson taught on PATV, during which the teacher said: “If one fish in the sea fights another fish, I’m sure the Jews are behind it”.
Dr. Tzvi Perry from Soroka hospital in the southern Israeli town of Beersheba said “five wounded people from the same family” were brought to the hospital.
Israel has sought to expedite demolitions of suspects’ homes in response to the surge of violence that began in October.
Shahin’s arrest was announced in July, with Israel alleging he belonged to an armed group linked to Fatah, the party of Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas. Critics say the tactic amounts to collective punishment.

Palestinians are angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the latter’s attacks on Palestinian properties, saying that the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
Israel recently revived the tactic of house demolitions, after a break of a decade, because of questions about its effectiveness as a deterrent and amid human rights concerns.
Those operations also sparked clashes in which nine Palestinians were wounded, two of them by live ammunition.
