Palestinians conduct 2 attacks in Jerusalem

Israeli forces have killed at least 73 Palestinians, including 44 who Israel says were carrying out or about to carry out attacks with knives, guns or cars.

It said the arrests were carried out in a joint operation by the Israeli military, the Shin Bet security agency and the Israeli police.

Police official Avi Cohen said: “The rapid determination of the guard and tram passengers prevented more innocent people from being harmed”. The boy was stripped to his underwear as the security men shouted at him.

A 13-year-old Palestinian went on trial on Tuesday charged with attempted murder after two Israelis were stabbed and seriously wounded in occupied east Jerusalem last month.

A second incident took place at about the same time Tuesday at the Damascus Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City when a Palestinian charged at security guards waving a knife.

The Israeli forces have once again raided the al-Makassed hospital in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) searching for alleged stone-throwers, Press TV reports.

The recent escalation in violence is thought to be motivated in part by the increase of Jewish visits to parts of Jerusalem holy both to Jews and Muslims, and the failure of worldwide efforts to broker a peace deal between Palestinians and Israelis.

Alfei Menashe is an Israeli settlement in the northern West Bank, west of Nablus. Jerusalem has been a frequent target of attackers, but had enjoyed period of relative quiet over the past two weeks as the unrest was focused primarily in the West Bank.

Palestinians claim traditionally Arab east Jerusalem, captured by Israel from Jordan in the 1967 Mideast war, as the capital of their future state. Police fatally shot Hassan and a passing vehicle ran over Ahmed. The Israeli victims, aged 20 and 13, survived their wounds.
