Palestinians shot dead in West Bank
Spokeswoman Luba Samri says the Palestinian purposely drove his auto into a bus stop on Friday morning. At least 20 Israelis have been killed in a series of near-daily stabbings, shootings and car-ramming attacks since October 1.
“Israel has destroyed the foundations of all political, security and economic agreements [it has made with the Palestinians]”, he said, going on to assert that the Palestinian Authority rejected any “partial” or “interim” solutions to the conflict.
More than 4,000 Palestinians were injured in the clashes, which also resulted in the death of 19 Israelis, who were stabbed, shot or run over by vehicles.
During a press conference he held with the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipra in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Abbas said the Palestinians are living under hard and “unbearable” conditions.
“There can be no peace when we have an onslaught of terror, not here, not anywhere else”, Netanyahu said. He pointed out that the army is considering and recommending a number of measures to ease the difficulties facing Palestinians in daily life, as well as some to bolster the power of the PA security services in the occupied West Bank. On Wednesday, Israeli media quoted an unnamed senior military officer as recommending that the Netanyahu government head off what he described as a “limited uprising” by admitting more Palestinian labourers, freeing low-risk Palestinian prisoners and further arming Abbas’s forces. Palestinians, meanwhile, have said it is rooted in frustrations over Israel’s nearly-half-century-long occupation of the West Bank.
Israel is said to be reviewing the incident.
He said Abbas’s official television station should be shuttered.
