The recent stabbings have been carried out by individuals with no known political affiliation acting on their own.

In one case caught on video, a young Palestinian man wanted in a stabbing was gunned down by a police officer as an angry crowd screamed for him to be shot. The attacker was shot dead by other officers.
“According to global law, lethal force may not be used except when one or more lives are in actual danger”, said Al-Haq director Shawan Jabarin.
During the same period, at least 27 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Jerusalem, according to Palestinian reports.
The factions, moreover, are busy fighting among themselves, with the president’s nationalist Fatah movement in control of the West Bank and the militant group, Hamas, running Gaza. A few hours later, hundreds of Gazans marched to the heavily fortified border, where seven of them were shot dead by Israeli troops, with dozens wounded. The witness said he didn’t see a gas canister, nor hear an explosion. A 45-year-old man was said to be lightly injured.
Funerals of Palestinians killed during unrest or while allegedly carrying out attacks – as well as videos of the shootings – have fed anger.

A 13-year-old boy died Sunday after being shot by a rubber-coated bullet in clashes in the West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported.

A few of Israel’s Jewish residents have also taken to the streets, to protest against the attacks, and have demanded the government do more to restore security.
The incident was one of four attacks on Israeli civilians and security personnel in Jerusalem that day.
