Palin joins Trump in call to ‘make America great again’
On Wednseday, Daily Show host Trevor Noah threw in his two cents to the commentary surrounding former Alaska governor Sarah Palin’s endorsement of 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The endorsement, which gives Trump a boost of conservative, anti-establishment credibility, comes as the billionaire businessman is locked in a dead heat with Texas Sen.
“It’s kind of the elephant in the room”, she began, addressing her family’s struggle.
Trump doesn’t back away from his detractors who say he is running a campaign of fear and anger.
Her son, Track Palin, a former U.S. Army soldier who fought in Iraq, was charged with fourth-degree assault, interfering with a report of domestic violence, and possession of a weapon while intoxicated, writes the news outlet. Later, Trump hailed Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R) for publicly stating this week that Iowans should not support Cruz.
“Goldman Sachs owns him, remember that folks”, Trump charged.
Glassner remained hitched to Palin world, going on to serve as the chief of staff to Palin’s political action committee, Sarah PAC. Trump then compared Cruz’s situation to the questions dogging Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton and her use of a private email server at the State Department.
“No more pussy-footing around”, Palin said. Trump also expressed doubt that Cruz is eligible to serve as president and claimed those who are opposed to a Cruz presidency might file lawsuits if he becomes the Republican nominee or wins the general election.
The head of a New York City-based veteran’s organization weighed in after Sarah Palin said her son Track’s arrest on domestic violence charges this week was a result of PTSD and because of President Obama’s lack of “respect” for veterans, NBC News reported. “I think when you go to caucus, you should think about that problem”.
Palin’s endorsement speech combining the folksy charm and everywoman appeal that initially made her a GOP superstar with defiant taunting of a “busted” GOP establishment that she slammed for counting both Trump and herself out.
She also took aim at the Republican establishment for “attacking their own front-runner” and offered a challenge to those who have suggested that Trump, whose positions on issues like gun control and abortion rights have shifted over the years, isn’t conservative enough. She campaigned for Cruz when he ran for the Senate in 2012, and he’s said her support was instrumental in his victory. “They need to stand for something or we’ll fall for anything”.
