Panthers get defensive score, beat Jaguars 20-9 in opener
Kuechly has been impressive since stepping into the National Football League , recording over 300 tackles in his first three seasons.
The Panthers defense forced three turnovers, recorded five sacks and scored a touchdown in a 20-9 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Now the Panthers will turn their attention to a Houston Texans team that has questions at quarterback. He appeared a little woozy as he left the field. He was taken straight to the locker room. “We had multiple things where we just shot ourselves in the foot”.
“We’re going all the way”, Addison said. “I think for anybody to assume we knew thirty years ago is unfair”.
We’ve got to make sure we move him around and get the ball to him…. The Panthers went from the 4-yard line to the 25 after the penalty and a sack and kicked a field goal. On their possession, Bortles had his arm hit as he attempted to pass and linebacker Thomas Davis grabbed the wobbly ball for an interception just inside the 20-yard line.
However, for the passing game that was supposed to shine after a stellar preseason by Blake Bortles, it did not prove to be the case on Sunday.
Klein had six tackles, including one for a loss, and did a nice job directing the defense in the second half.
The Jacksonville Jaguars season did not get off to the kind of start that the organization and the fans were hoping for.
Norman punched the ball away from Allen Hurns inside the Carolina 20, stopping a drive in the second quarter. “I played Mike (middle linebacker) all preseason so when Luke goes down I go in. simple as that”.
“He’s a servant leader, and that’s the greatest compliment I could give someone”, McDermott said.
Kuechly is in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Had he not suffered his late concussion on the team’s final drive, Greene’s ownership might have risen dramatically. He finished 22 of 40 for 183 yards, with a touchdown, two interceptions and five sacks. The Jaguars missed a field goal attempt wide right failing to take advantage. Some point to back-to-back plays on the Jaguars first series of the second half as the reason.
Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports that tight end Greg Olsen is not concerned after recording only one catch in the regular season opener: “Sometimes you run good routes and things open up,”Olsen told reporters Monday”. “It’s not a good feeling because I think we felt like things that were under our control – dropped passes, mistakes, critical errors – kept us from getting over the top of this game”. “Those areas that were reveled, we need to have more focus on”.

-Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson hurt his left hamstring in the first quarter against Miami and did not return.
